HerStory | Bliss: Walking in Sound, Story, and Spirit
SPIRITUAL COUNSELING + SOUND HEALING

Bliss
I am Ananda “Bliss” Kenboya, born and raised in Oklahoma, though my spirit has found its home in Oakland. I walk as an intuitive, a spiritual counselor, and a creative, guided by the call to help others on their journeys of reflection, healing, replenishing, and expansion.
My lineage carries the richness of the African Diaspora and the deep, grounding wisdom of my Choctaw and Cherokee ancestors. From them I inherited not only bloodlines, but stories of living medicine passed down from my grandparents, now carried through me. Storytelling has always been at the heart of my path, weaving memory, spirit, and imagination into something that heals.
Creativity is my constant companion. It moves most naturally through sound, the rhythms of percussion, the resonance of voice and through writing, where words shape themselves into offerings. Sound, especially, has become my medicine and my way of serving others.
As a sound healer, I hold space in many forms: intimate one-on-one journeys, private circles, community gatherings, and retreats where spirit and rest converge. Sometimes it’s a sound bath in a workplace, bringing ease and clarity into professional spaces; other times, it’s a public offering that opens doors to connection. Whatever the setting, my intention is the same: to create spaces where people can soften, listen inward, and return to themselves.

“Rest is also part of creation“
Self-care is what makes this work possible. For me, it begins with listening inward, slowing down enough to hear what my body, spirit, and heart are asking for. Sometimes that means stillness, meditation, or time in nature. Other times it means expression: sound, writing, or movement, where creativity itself becomes medicine.
Celebration feels like an extension of that care. It’s gathering with loved ones, sharing food, laughter, and stories. It’s also as simple as lighting a candle, pausing to give thanks, and honoring the beauty of a single moment. Both self-care and celebration are ways I reconnect to joy and remember that life itself is sacred.
On this path, I’ve learned that the advice I’d give to other women chasing their dreams is the advice I still give myself: trust the wisdom already living inside you. The world will always offer distractions, doubts, and detours. But your inner voice knows the way. Move with patience and courage. Surround yourself with people who remind you of your brilliance. And remember: your path does not need to look like anyone else’s.
“Your dreams are not only valid, they are necessary.”
What’s next for me is expansion. I feel called to reach more people and create circles where sound, story, and spirit can ripple outward into wider communities. That looks like more retreats, deeper one-on-one and group sessions, and more wellness sound baths offered in workplaces and public spaces. My dream is to make healing and restoration accessible to more people, so they too can experience the recalibration and reconnection through the power of sound.
This October, I’ll be holding my next public event: a space to gather, to listen, and to heal together. It feels like the beginning of a larger unfolding.
My path is one of sound, story, and spirit. Each offering is an invitation: to slow down, to listen, and to come home to yourself.

Closing Reflection
Bliss’s story reminds us that healing can be found in rhythm, rest, and reflection. Guided by her ancestors and her gifts, she shows us how sound and story can open doorways to wholeness. In the spirit of HerStory, her journey affirms that when women trust their inner wisdom, they create ripples of healing not only for themselves, but for entire communities.
