Movement Means

When we think of movement often we think of physical activity. Everything in your life is about movement towards a better you.

This month’s blog post takes a different twist in our format. We used synonyms for movement listing ways we can work towards building ourselves as well as those around us. Our intention is to use the theme of movement in more ways than one in your life.

Let’s get up and get moving together!

ACT on what you say you will
Help ADVANCE someone else’s progress and growth by sharing your own story
CHANGE behaviors that no longer serve you
Work on the DEVELOPMENT of new skills and mindsets
EXERCISE your mind as well as your body
Ask yourself who do you want to EVOLVE into
Take time to go with the FLOW
Don’t be deterred by the FLUX of life’s ups and downs|
Do a kind GESTURE without expecting acknowledgement or accolades
Take a small JOURNEY by yourself
Pay attention to the MIGRATION of people in and out of our lives
MOVE forward with ideas that you’ve put off
MANEUVER through tough challenges without distracting away from them
PASSAGE of time is inevitable but what you do with it is not
Make incremental PROGRESS toward your goals
Pause when you need to avoid REGRESSION to your old mindsets
SHIFT your priorities to make sure you are practicing self care
Do one activity that STIRS your curiosity
TRANSCEND all negative energy

Grow in Your Self-Trust

Photo by Kaitlyn Jameson on Unsplash

When springtime comes around, we begin to see the greenery and lushness around us. The sun starts to shine, and flowers are in bloom. Many of us experience the springtime within us at other times of the year.

Throughout different points in our childhood, we are taught to rely on others to help us, nurture us and provide direction to our lives. Into our early teens and as adults we are expected to move from interdependence into decisiveness without really being taught how. Then as adults, we are to become experts or rely on the expertise of others to guide our lives. However, in our development, we miss an essential lesson which is trusting ourselves and our instincts. As we grow through different phases in our lives, we become different versions of ourselves. We live many lives as we become who we will be.

Our individual growth also has an impact on not just ourselves but the world around us. Think of yourself as a plant. When you are nourished with light and nutrients you rise and share your nutrients with the ground. You even may feed other plants. You give oxygen and keep others alive. But what happens to a poorly cared-for plant? They seem unsightly. Can kill off other plants. Some carry disease which can spread. Plants, unlike people, don’t doubt their growth.

To trust ourselves we should ask ourselves questions that we strengthen our growth and build our self-trust.

What do you like about yourself? Start by making a list of the things you enjoy about yourself. Similar to trust in others, you would not put trust someone you didn’t like.

When do you celebrate yourself and your accomplishments? Even something as simple is as looking yourself in the mirror and saying “Job well done” is a small celebration for you to acknowledge overcoming or growing from something. Remove the idea that humility means you can’t accept praise, even from yourself.

Where are the receipts for when you made good decisions? Identify those times when your instincts were right. Look at the moments when you had an idea or thought that lead you to make a decision based on your instincts.

What about the time when your instincts didn’t work? Acknowledge that sometimes bad decisions do happen. Don’t minimize these instances but rather look at them objectively and remember you learned a lesson from it. Don’t let it define you but rather shape your decision making.

Would you allow someone to talk to your child, friend or cherished family member poorly? If no, then do not allow this for yourself. Your self-talks can either help or hinder your growth. When you trust in yourself and your instincts you will find that you continue to bloom, much like a healthy plant.

Manifesting Mindset: Release Negativity

In an article from Psychology Today, writer Hara Estroff Marano describes the brain’s negative bias. Negative experiences have a greater impact on our brains. In order to have a manifesting mindset, you need to work on releasing negativity. Here’s a four-step exercise to release negativity and place you in a positive frame of mind:

1.  Create two columns on a sheet of paper. In the left column, write down the negative thoughts you have that prevent you from achieving your goals.

2. For each negative thought, think or say out aloud to yourself why that negative thought is NOT true.

3. In the right column, write down the positive versions for each negative thought. For example, if you wrote, “I don’t have enough money.” Rewrite that statement to “I am abundant” or “I have enough money.”

4. Say out loud each positive statement over and over and believing those words more and more.

And so it is.

Manifesting Mindset: Set Your Intentions

In the last post, I discussed meditation as one of the key elements to having a manifesting mindset. The second step is to let the universe know what you want by setting your intentions. When you set your intentions, you are asking the universe to guide you toward your goals. Read these three steps to help you with intention setting:

  1. Be specific with your intentions. If you are looking for a life partner, describe the characteristics of that person, what that person likes to do for fun, what you and that person will enjoy doing together, etc. If you want a promotion, tell the universe what job title you want, how much money you want to make, or what projects you will be doing in your new position. Being clear and specific helps you focus on your goals.
  2. Put your intentions down on paper. Write you intentions in a journal, create a vision board, or write it out on pieces of paper. How ever you decide to write out your intentions, make sure that you don’t tuck it away only to have it found weeks, months or years later. Read and say the intentions daily. Have your intentions part of your daily meditation practice.  You may want to post it on your refrigerator, your bathroom mirror, or in your car as frequent reminders.
  3. Share your intentions with others. Don’t keep it a secret. Put it out there for others to know. By telling others, you are involving them in your aspirations. You may encounter nay-sayers, devil’s advocates, and critics. Do not let that discourage you. Instead, let it fuel your passion to make things happen! You will also find supporters, cheerleaders, and accountability partners who will encourage you and help you meet your goals. Those are the ones to keep in your inner circle.

Take Care,

Leilani

Manifesting Mindset: Meditation

Manifesting Mindset Lunch & Learn

What an awesome weekend! The first SIS Circle Lunch & Learn kicked off on Saturday with yummy food, an interactive workshop, and amazing women setting intentions for what they WILL receive. We talked about the power of the mind and the law of attraction. Next, we explored six steps to manifesting what you desire:

1. Relax, Breathe, Meditate.
2. Set your Intentions.
3. Release Negativity.
4. Put in the Work.
5. Live as if it is Already yours.
6. Be Grateful.

Let’s talk about the first step: Meditation.

Your mind is incredibly powerful. Dr. Deepak Chopra noted that we have an estimated 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts a day. He also notes that “although the mind is capable of creating life-affirming stories, it has what neuroscientists refer to as a negativity bias, a tendency to pay more attention to negative experiences than to positive ones.” Through meditation one can counter the negativity bias and improves the ability to stay focused. Being focused is essential to having a manifesting mindset.

Learn more on the benefits of meditation:
In an article from Psychology Today, Emma M. Seppälä Ph.D. shares 20 scientifically-validated reasons for meditation. Among those are:
– Increases volume in areas related to emotion regulation, positive emotions & self-control
– Increases your focus & attention
– Improves your ability to be creative & think outside the box

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health cites studies about the effectiveness of meditation.
