I’m Kerry Anne Aldridge, CEO and co-owner of Sisters in Motion, a feminine embodiment studio I run with my sister, Jennie. At our studio, we teach a movement modality called S Factor, which is a pole dance–based practice that isn’t about performance, but about helping women rediscover the beauty, sensuality, and strength in their own bodies.

At the age of 5, I fell in love with dance and practiced many types throughout my life. 18 years ago, I experienced my first S Factor class at a friends’ bachelorette party. I had misconceptions and judgments about what this “pole class” would be like and I could not have been more wrong.  As I watched one of my best friends dance for us at the end of that party, I saw how this practice transformed her life and  helped her heal her relationship with her body in ways I had never seen before. Out of curiosity, I stepped into an Intro class, and within that one class I knew: this is it. I had found my calling.

“It’s not about how you look when you move, it’s about how you feel when you move.”

My inspiration begins at home. My mom, a small business owner herself, showed me that persistence and self-confidence could carry you through anything. She has always been my rock, reminding me that no dream is too bold if you’re willing to keep going.

The dream hasn’t been without challenges. When Covid forced us to shut down for 18 months, I wondered if we’d make it. But with tenacity, passion, and an incredible team, we pulled through. Not only did we survive, we’re now stepping into something bigger, moving into a studio that’s more than double the size of the space we’ve called home for the past 11 years. It feels like a rebirth.

Along the way, I’ve learned that the body never lies. It’s always sending us messages of guidance, wisdom, reminders of what we need. Listening to and honoring those messages is what keeps me grounded, both in my work and in my life. For me, that looks like meditation, long walks in the redwoods, quiet moments with my partner, and, of course, dancing… sometimes in class and sometimes on my own…but always as a celebration of life.

If I could whisper something to my younger self, it would be this: “Your life will not look the way you imagined, but you’ll fall in love with it anyway. Trust that things are working out for you, just not in the way you imagined. Perfection is not required.”

Looking ahead, my heart is full. We’re building a new home for Sisters in Motion and I know it will allow us to welcome even more women into this practice. We will have more space, more freedom, more room to grow. Women often tell me after they take their first class “I had no idea anything like this existed. I feel like I just came home.”  I want every woman reading this to know: “You deserve to feel beautiful, powerful and vibrant.  Your body is speaking…are you listening?” If you are looking to connect to your body in a meaningful way that will change your life…come play with us. We have students of all ages, shapes, sizes, dance and fitness levels…and all of them feel like they have come home through this practice. You are welcome home too.

When a woman reclaims her body, she reclaims her power.

“Move with intention. Live with power. Love yourself fiercely.”

Closing Reflection

Kerry Anne’s journey is all about resilience, passion, and sisterhood. She’s faced setbacks, rebuilt, and poured her heart into creating a safe space where women can move freely and feel at home in their own bodies. For her, embodiment isn’t just movement, it’s freedom. HerStory isn’t only about sharing women’s voices, it’s about honoring how those voices change the way we see what’s possible for ourselves and for each other.
